The US Food and Drug Administration has expanded the emergency use authorization for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine boosters to children aged between 12 and 15 years.
The time interval between completion of the initial vaccine series and receiving a booster jab has also been reduced from six months to at least five months for all individuals aged 12 years and above. The recommendations were made after the agency reviewed real-world data from Israel showing no new safety concerns in expanding booster shots to adolescents or reducing the interval between the primary vaccine series and a booster jab.
